Beautiful hotel staff very professional and environment very clean and spotless,food excellent leisure facilities clean and modern would highly recommended

It was good but room was not ready so was given a card for two free drinks but had the bar staff charged me for the free drinks ... there was two free bottles of beer in fridge in room but no bottle opener . Plus room was to hot and couldn't coll down much .

As regular visitors we always enjoy Slaley Hall. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, from a warm welcome at Reception to check out. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The facilities are good, as are the food and rooms. The location is good, perhaps the only downside is a lack of signage from the road for new visitors.

We arrived early and our room was ready. The spa facilities were adequate. Only comment is some update needed to the rock effect around the pool. The food in the Clarets jug was fine. Dessert bit disappointing. The staff very friendly and Neville not sure his title but was a perfect gentleman. He transported our luggage to and from our bedroom with no effort. Neville was very polite and friendly. Hope to see him next time we visit.

Slaley Hall is in a really beautiful setting and the approach to the hotel is stunning and raises expectations. On arrival, the reception and common areas look attractive and inviting but unfortunately that is where it ends. The hotel needs some investment, refurbishment, maintenance and attention to detail and staff support and training. Our room was of a reasonable size but the ripped and torn sheer curtains at the window looked awful and the whole room had a general atmosphere of being grubby and superficially cleaned. We later discovered that the pillows were like sleeping on a bag of potatoes and there was only one extra spare in the wardrobe . The bed was comfortable enough and we slept well. The heated towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work and the towels were a long way past their prime. I had a look at the rubber bath mat but it was grimy and mouldy so there was no way we would use it. There were no complimentary products apart from a bar of soap and a hand wash firmly locked to the wall. We had booked to eat in the restaurant for both nights of our stay and it was okay but really not worth the price. The very young staff team worked hard , and they were a pleasant bunch but they need more people on the team, training to ensure consistency and good management. Table settings are of basic cafe quality, the menu cards were well ‘mauled’, food was very average and the non alcoholic drinks offering very basic. The smart casual dress code was not respected by the majority of the guests and shorts, trainers and leisure wear were the norm. We raised our main concerns ( radiator , ripped curtains, need for refurbishing) when checking out and we didn’t raise them until then because it was highly unlikely that they could be fixed during our two nights stay. Overall we were disappointed with our second stay here (we had stayed some ten years previously) and we won’t be returning. Slaley Hall has so much potential and needs to be nurtured back into being a great hotel again.

Superb experience. Laura from the restaurant really liked after us and made sure we had a great night. The food was absolutely exceptional, no other description would be valid. Truly superb. Recommend.
